Towards greener railways with the integration of BIM and GIS
Italian Railways Group is prioritizing environmental protection to reduce its carbon footprint and improve its environmental performance. FSTechnology, a division, integrates Autodesk (ACC, Revit, Civil 3D), ESRI ArcGIS, and GeoBIM to monitor environmental impact. They use CAD, BIM, point clouds, orthophotos, GIS, and game engines to create a digital twin to track the progress of infrastructure, especially critical areas such as viaducts and bridges, while conserving water and energy.
