Project Close-out

Appointing party (Client) Lead appointed party (main contractor)

Appointment

• Know which parties are working on which aspects of the project.

• Share only approved information within the project team

• Understand what information the client needs

• Helps to achieve the first-time right and boost the productivity

Information management according to ISO 19650

• When you focus on this part you will boost your productivity

6

Mobilization Doing the

work

Lead appointed party (main contractor)

Appointment

Create a BIM EXECUTING PLAN (BEP)

• How will all parties collaborate effectively?

• Which Common Data Environment (CDE) will we be using?

• How will we track issues throughout the project?

• What information do we need to deliver, and what is the required Level of Information Needed?

7

Appointment The Project

• There are eight major contractors involved.

• The main contractor prefers to use ACC docs

• ACC Colab for model coordination, as well as Navisworks.

• We will hold a clash detection session every two weeks.

• The Level of Development (LOD) required is between 350 and 400, ensuring high-quality models.

Mobilization

Before starting the job, ensure that everything is clear:

• Set up the Common Data Environment (CDE).

• Onboard all project members to work with the CDE.

• Ensure that everyone is working according to the BIM Execution Plan (BEP).

8

The Project

• ACC: create handouts and conduct workshops

• Ensure that everyone understands the process for delivering information.

• No shortcuts in sharing information

• Understand the requirements for your work.

• Familiarize yourself with the federation strategy for model coordination.

• Ensure your models are clean and organized!

• Use the correct coordinate system

• Use as a reference only shared information

9

Doing the Work The Project

BEP: Helpful or Restrictive?

• For many individuals, working with the ISO standard was new

• It requires teams to adopt different working methods.

• Clash detection sessions encourage teams to establish a productive workflow.

• The naming convention was challenging to adhere to.

10

CDE: what is wrong with my C-drive?

• In the project, team members were required to use ACC

• The use of workflows boosts the quality of the products

• The shared information is reviewed

• Versioning of the documents helps maintain unique information

• Documents sent by email were ignored; we aim to avoid duplicates

• Information can be easily found through metadata

11

Model coordination: Help!

• I have limited experience working in 3D

• I believe my models are conflict-free

12

Is everything all good in the project?

• Effort Required for 3D Modeling: Not all parties where able to deliver (high quality) 3D Models

• Workshops for Collaboration: We conducted multiple workshops to ensure all team members were aligned.

• Bi-weekly Questionnaire Sessions: Regular sessions to address questions and gather feedback regarding information management.

Major Improvements for ACC Documents:

• Automatic Document Numbering:

Implementing a system for automatic numbering of documents

• Integration of ACC Metadata:

Directly embedding ACC metadata in documents.

• Example: Updating title blocks on drawings with necessary metadata.
