Types of AI

Machine learning (ML)

Machine learning is a subset of AI that enables computers to “learn” and make decisions based on input datasets without being explicitly programmed

Deep learning

Deep learning uses machine-learning algorithms with biologically inspired

logical structures called “artificial neural networks”. It focuses on deep neural

networks to model and solve complex problems.

Generative AI

Generative AI produces novel creations based on pretrained deep neural

networks that produce probable, albeit unvalidated outputs. ChatGPT is an

example.

Generative design Generative design uses computation to run many real-world simulations and arrive at optimal designs. Using algorithms, it produces outputs defined by specific input parameters. Generative design solutions may employ AI, but not always.

Honolulu Rail Transit Project

The Honolulu rail system will feature 19 stations along a 18.9-mile long corridor on the south shore of O‘ahu. The parsons team was responsible for track design along with station design for the final two segments of the corridor from Pearl city to Ala Moana center. This designed to meet HART Regulations
