Transportation Challenges in Brazil

• By 2050, ~ 237 million people (93.5% of the

Brazillian population) will be living in cities.

• It directly reflects the transportation needs of

millions of Brazilians.

• It poses a challenge for the states’ governments.

Demand Growth

• Recently, the SP state government launched the

"SP Nos Trilhos” (SP on Rail) Program.

• It totals an investment of R$ 194 billion (~ U$35

billion) , with over 1,000 km of rail expansion,

and includes:

• Intercity Trains (TICs),

• Light Rail Vehicles (VLTs),

• Urban trains, and Metro

São Paulo (SP) State

• Cities increasingly need sustainable mobility

solutions, such as railroad passenger

transport.

• It is predicted that the railroad sector will be

able to double its capacity by 2035.

Why? Advanced data visualization and analysis of project metrics, enabling stakeholders to make informed

decisions based on real-time data extracted from issues and model validations.

Pros Improved collaboration. Real-time insights. Improved decision-making. Customizable reports.

Cons/Challenges Data quality issues. Training requirements. Culture

to check panels. Ongoing maintenance.

About future

Upcoming Challenges and the Future

Deal with contractor coordinator (old mindset)

Adoption of the CDE with the import of over 50 years of legacy documents

Increase the use of automated checking

Add São Paulo Metro to bSDD

Develop IDS for data requirements

Include GIS with IFC in the design process

Add more disciplines with BIM models

Use of AI for monitoring the physical progress of construction

Thank you! Obrigado!
