Thales Licensing Fixed licence activation
1
Introduction Thales licensing is a software-based licensing system that uses an Internet connection to validate and activate a licence. After initial licence activation, the licences are administrated remotely and any changes made to them are automatically applied to the user’s machine without any manual intervention required by the end user.
Each product licence is in the form of a unique product EID (Entitlement Identifier) which consists of 36 characters and numbers. This is similar to other electronic product licence delivery methods used by other software vendors.
Here is an example email received when a fixed licence is purchased. The area highlighted by the red box is the Product EID belonging to a fixed ICMOne licence in this example.
System Requirements The system requirements are the same as the system requirements of the application that the licence is going to be applied to. However, it is crucial that the user machine has direct access to the Internet. If the machine accesses the internet via proxy server, then some additional set up is required. This is explained in further detail in a separate guide.
After initial activation, the licence will undergo daily compliance and update checks. This happens automatically in the background. If the check fails, they will be attempted again the next day, for a maximum of up to 30 days. After 30 days of failed attempts, the local fixed licence will become ‘expired’.
Please note fixed licences can only be applied directly to physical machines (PCs and Servers) they are not compatible with virtualised environments. The end user will need to directly log on to the machine on which the licence is hosted. Access via remote access tools such as Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) etc are not permitted.

Licence Activation To activate the licence, the product that the licence belongs to must first be installed. Each product installer will install a separate application called the Innovyze Licence Administrator (ILA). This application is used to apply the fixed licence to the machine.
Once the initial product installation is complete, from the start menu, open the Innovyze Licence Administrator as an administrator
Select the first option to apply a software licence and click on Next
3
Input (copy) the product EID into the text box and then click on apply. Multiple EIDs can be added, one on each line.
4
The following prompt will appear after sucessful application of the fixed licence. Click on Yes. This will close the ILA and reopen it.
Finally confirm the licence has been applied by selecting the second option ‘View available and unavailable licences’ and click Next.
5
Select Local to display all fixed licences currently applied to the machine and confirm the successful activation of the licence.
Click on finish to close the ILA.
Once the fixed licence has been activated, the application needs to be configured to use this licence. Please refer to the product specific licence setup guide for more information on this.
