Introduction This guide will explain how to configure InfoWorks ICM (model builder) to use Thales Fixed or Floating licences. Both types of product licences are managed by an application called the Innovyze Licence Administrator (ILA). This application is installed either alongside InfoWorks ICM (Fixed) or on a server (Floating).
If you are attempting to apply newly issued product EIDs, please refer to the Fixed or Floating Licensing Setup documents for detailed instructions on how to activate the licences, before following these instructions to access them.
Please note you might see other product features listed in the ILA such as TSDB, ICM Viewer, ICM Exchange, ICM RiskMaster etc. They are additional product features that may have been included in your purchase. Please check your purchase order confirmation email that all the product features that you have purchased are listed on the ILA.
Fixed Thales Please note these licences can only be used on physical machines only e.g., desktop PCs and laptops. They cannot be used remotely via any third-party tools e.g., RDP, Citrix etc and / or in virtualised environments.
Open the Innovyze Licence Administrator (ILA) and select local to confirm the presence of fixed InfoWorks ICM product features present on your PC. Check the information is correct and matches to your software purchase email order confirmation.
3
Once you confirm the correct product features are present. Open the InfoWorks ICM Licence Key Setup Wizard from the start menu.
Select the first option and click Next.
4
Select either option. The latter of the two will require the user to possess full admin rights and apply the settings to the entire PC irrespective which user logs into to the PC..
5
Select Thales licence type in the dropdown list and specify NO-NET as the computer name or IP Address. NO-NET sets the setkey to use a fixed soft licence only that residing on the same PC. Also specify the UI and Engine sizes (seperated by their irrespective products, InfoWorks ICM and ICM One), this must match what is listed on the ILA. Finally apply the licence settings and attempt to open InfoWorks ICM (model builder)
6
Floating Thales Open the Innovyze Licence Administrator (ILA) and select hostname or IP Address of the server hosting your network floating licences, to confirm the presence and availability of network floating InfoWorks ICM product features. Check the information is correct and matches to your software purchase order email confirmation.
If the hostname is not present in the list of servers, simply add it by entering either the hostname or IP Address of the server in the text box below the table of available servers.
7
Once you confirm the correct product features are present. Open the InfoWorks ICM Licence Key Setup Wizard belonging to the version you wish to configure the licence for, from the start menu.
Select the first option and click Next.
8
Select either option. The latter of the two will require the user to possess full admin rights and apply the settings to the entire PC irrespective which user logs into to the PC..
Select Thales as the licence type in the drop down list. Then specify the machine hostname or IP Address of the server acting as your floating licence server. Also specify the UI and Engine sizes. This must to match what is available on the licence server. Finally apply the licence settings and attempt to open InfoWorks ICM.

Other ICM Products and options As explained earlier your purchase might not include full InfoWorks ICM e.g., InfoWorks ICM Viewer only. If you require use of these options. InfoWorks ICM can be configured to use them via the InfoWorks ICM Licence Key Setup Wizard via the third option as shown below.
Please note, InfoWorks ICM Exchange and ICM Live shares the same licence settings that are used to open the InfoWorks ICM UI. We recommend those settings are applied for the machine only. As both product features run as a Windows service using the local system account only.
You can switch to the following variants of InfoWorks ICM
• Full InfoWOrks ICM
• Infoworks ICM Viewer
• ICM One
You can also configure it to obtain an available TSDB licence. Make the neccesary selection and apply the settings.

InfoWorks ICM Agent Manager (Remote Simulations) Any machine performing simulations requires access to an available InfoWorks ICM Engine licence. The Workgroup Environment allows InfoWorks ICM to send sim jobs to remote machines for simulation. InfoWorks ICM Remote Agent Manager is required to be installed on each machine. This application will perform these remote simulations. The product licence settings contained within the Agent Manager, need to be configured to obtain an engine licence, at the point at which a simulation.
The Agent Manager can be installed on its own or is already installed alongside InfoWorks ICM
1. On each machine that will perform remote simulations. Open the Innovyze InfoWorks ICM Agent Manager (this requires administrator rights)
13
2. Stop the service and ensure “Act as Remote Agent, using licence:” checkbox is checked and complete the licence settings.
14
3. The Thales Licence settings as follows
• Licence Type: Thales
• Computer Name or IP Address:
• Floating licence: hostname or IP Address of the machine hosting your Thales Floating Licences.
• Fixed Licence: NO-NET
• Engine Size: Select the InfoWorks ICM Engine size that you have in your possession. You might have to check the ILA to see what engine sizes are available in your possession.
Finally apply the changes and start the Agent Manager service.

Offline use (commute/check out) Floating licences can be commuted (checked out) to the end user PC for offline use. This is useful in situations where the user will require use of the product licences in areas where there is little or no network connectivity. The commuted floating licence will remain on the PC and can only be checked out for a maximum of 30 days. When the commute time reaches its expiry, it will automatically return it back to the original pool of floating licences that resides on the server.
Please note that commuted licences cannot be used on virtual machines.
To use a commuted licence. This a two-stage process
1. Check out the floating licences from the server via the ILA
2. Configure InfoWorks ICM to use a commuted licence
16
Commute (check out) floating licence 1. As shown below, open the Innovyze Licence Administrator as an administrator and select
the option to view the status of your network floating licences. Select the hostname or IP Address belonging to the server where your floating licences resides.
Select the product feature, set the commute expiry date, and finally click on commute. Do the same for any other product features you wish to commute. Such as any simulation engine licences that you require to perform local simulations.
17
2. Select local to confirm the presence of the commuted network floating licences. It will also display other details such as the commuted expiry date and the IP Address of the licence server where the licence was commuted from
You can also return the commuted licence back to the licence server early, by simply clicking on the return button.
Configure InfoWorks ICM to use commuted licence A commuted network floating licence has now become a fixed local licence. Simply follow the steps detailed earlier under Fixed Thales to configure InfoWorks ICM to use a commuted licence.
