Dubai Municipality BIM Mandate Announcement (Effective as of 1st of January, 2024)

Dubai Municipality launched Build in Dubai, an online platform for construction services and information. The goal is to simplify and improve the construction process by using advanced technologies like BIM and E-Checking. Digital BIM model submissions will be mandatory for building permits in Dubai starting from 1st of January, 2024 for specific categories:

1. Buildings and structures with a height that:

- Exceed 20 floors (Architectural designs) - Exceed 40 floors (Structural designs)

2. Buildings and structures with an area that:

- Exceed 20,000m² (Architectural designs) - Exceed 30,000m² (Structural designs)

3. Specialized buildings

Specialized buildings like hospitals and universities, etc.

4. Government projects

Government projects excluding only utility infrastructure projects. BIM submission must include BIM models in the 'Industry Foundation Classes' (IFC) format.
